Like most political platforms, the Libertarian party platform is vague and abstract. It also tends to be a little bit utopian in its approach, and this can make it difficult to ascertain where the party stands on specific issues facing the country at any given time. Libertarian Party Platform Fiscal policy:  The Libertarian party opposes taxation in pretty much all forms, and it deals with the revenue loss by opposing entitlement programs across the board. This means that people keep more of what they earn, but it also means that there is no social safety net. Ambitious, sweeping proposals — such as universal pre-kindergarten and universal health care — are obviously not compatible with this objective.Corporations:  The party would eliminate all federal subsidies to private corporations, as well as all antitrust laws.Public services: The Libertarian party would like to eliminate the U.S. Postal Service. Jasmin Hernandez (Plaintiff) states that she was sexually assaulted by Tevin Elliott on April 15, 2012. At the time of the alleged assault, Hernandez was a freshman at Baylor University and Elliott was a student as well as a member of the Baylor football team. Three Defendants Hernandez filed suit against Baylor University, Art Briles (Baylor’s former head football coach) and Ian McCaw (Baylor’s former athletic director) all three of which are considered Defendants in this case. Post-reporting - the Plaintiff alleges that the staff at Baylor neglected to assist her when she reported the sexual assault; however, the Court dismisses this claim due to the expiration of its statute of limitations (amount of time an individual has to file a claim). Music is a very important part of modern popular culture and society today. Students are so clung to their person music players that it is almost impossible to walk around the halls of any high school without seeing some sort or cord connecting their head to some portable electronic device. It has even gotten to the point where the phones, used every day for communication, now serve as a way to listen to music. After observing this, one must ask the question; what is it that everyone is listening to? This is a question that cannot be answered with one genre choice. Music is completely subjective to the listener and their opinions about music and taste. Moreover, there is something that Independent music has that others do not; a passion and purpose behind the lyrics and music. These characteristics are influenced by the freedoms these groups have. Indie Records are the way as their music. They allow their artists to compose freely, while at the same time, they are committed to offering a means of promoting their music. Compare that to a mainstream label where the artist has to match a certain sound in order to be â€Å"successful. † The word Indie is an abbreviation for the word independent which means being free from the influence, guidance, or control of others; in other words being free and self-reliant. This definition perfectly describes any original or new age Indie artist. However, there is a difference between the two. The first Indie groups were focused on remaining independent and having the ability to write about whatever they wish. Indie music is a mix of pop, jazz, rock, blues, and poetry. Indie is short for Independent. Indie music was created in the 1950-60’s but was very underground meaning indie bands played in little venues and in their garages. Indie music did not grow in popularity till the 80’s. Indie artists created music how they wanted. Therefore they usually were not get signed to a big producer and did not make a lot of money. Indie artists rather create their own music/ sound then make a lot of money. In fact they prefer to not be as popular as pop music and other genres. To this day Indie music is not as popular as the others. But a lot of well-known Indie bands started as small garage bands. It took a lot of practice and dedication. They played at venues often and started off with small CD’s. Most recently, â€Å"indie†Ã¢â‚¬â€long thrown around as a signifier of how it got done (i. e. independently)— has become the genre. â€Å"When I first heard the term ‘indie rock,’ it was about business practices,† says Slim Moon, who came of age as a punk fan in the 1980s, founded the Kill Rock Stars label in the ’90s, and now helms Shotclock Management out of Portland, Ore. â€Å"Major labels being publicly held corporations, their primary motive has to be to make money for stockholders. And the distinctions that I think indie labels were trying to make was, ‘We’re independent of that system so we have lots of reasons for doing this: We’re doing this for politics, we’re doing this for cool factor, we’re doing it for aesthetics, we’re doing it for community, but we’re not just doing it for money. ’† The first and one of the most important things I learned was how the music industry itself was changing due to the arrival of widespread indie music. Indie is, at once, a genre (of music first, and then of film, books, video games and anything else with a perceived sensibility of art) There are two ways to look at this situation, one from a corporate standpoint and the other from the position of an artist. From the corporate perspective independent music is literally destruction the industry. This is due to the fact that a large record label is no longer needed by artists to produce their music and to provide them with a studio in which to record their music. Another factor that is contributing to the decline of corporate music is the fact that music labels are no longer really needed to promote music. The Internet has pretty much taken over this aspect of the industry. The Internet allows anybody to post his or her art on it for absolutely free. Where an industry was once needed to create a buzz about a band or record, now the simple act of uploading a song onto the Internet can be the only requirement to get noticed. The final and perhaps the most important reason that the music industry is failing is because of a rapid decline in cd sales. This is once again due to the usage of the Internet. Streaming music and the illegal downloading of music from p2p sites has almost replaced the previous practice of buying cds or vinyl records. If an artist is obscure and not yet realized, the Internet is a fantastic resource and utility to promote their music. Usually these artists are more than willing to give their music away for free just for exposure. As an artist becomes more famous though, the Internet actually bites into their income because it hurts their record sales. Indie music exist because of the genre itself, that indie music is a way to express our feel on a poem lyric with any expression of music, and composed by the artist freely without large label record. Indie music is an independent music that can happen independently and there is no need becoming a successful artist as a goal, but still can promote the music without large label record. so composing indie music shapes the creativity of making and promoting the music itself.

Slavery Slavery in America stems well back to when the new world was first discovered and was led by the country to start the African Slave Trade- Portugal. The African Slave Trade was first exploited for plantations in that is now called the Caribbean, and eventually reached the southern coasts of America (Slavery Two; Milton Meltzer). The African natives were of all ages and sexes. Women usually worked in the homes, cooking and cleaning, whereas men were sent out into the plantations to farm. Young girls would usually help in the house also and young boys would help in the farm by bailing hay and loading wagons with crops. Since trying to capture the native Indians, the Arawaks and Caribs, failed (Small-Pox had killed them), the Europeans said out to capture African slaves. They were shipped from Africa by the Europeans in what was called The Triangular Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. This was an organized route where Europeans would travel to Africa bringing manufactured goods, capture Africans and take them to the Caribbean, and then take the crops and goods and bring them back to Europe. The African people, in order to communicate invented a language that was a mixture of all the African languages combined, called Creole. This language now varies from island to island. They also kept their culture which accounts for calypso music and the instruments used in these songs. Slavery was common all over the world until 1794 when France signed the Act of the National Convention abolishing slavery. It would take America about a hundred years to do the same (Slavery Two; Milton Meltzer). George Washington was America's hero. He was America's first president. He was a slave owner. He deplored slavery but did not release his slaves. His will stated that they would be released after the death of his wife (The Volume Library; 1988). Washington wasn't the only president to have slaves. Thomas Jefferson wrote, "All men are created equal" but died leaving his blacks in slavery. In 1775 black Americans were sent to fight in the revolutionary army. The British proposed that if a black man was to join their army, they would be set free afterwards. America originally planned not to let the blacks fight in the army, but when hearing this, let them enlist. Only Georgia and South Carolina refused to let them enlist, but paid for their racism when each lost 25,000 blacks to the British. The slaves returned on an honourable discharge after securing America's freedom, but not their own (Software Toolworks Encyclopedia; 1992). Slavery continued and so did the numbers of slaves trying to escape to the free states or into Canada. A runaway slave would be found by bloodhounds, trained to find black slaves. Then the slave, upon returning, would be executed or severely whipped. The "Underground Railroad" was a project that helped black slaves escape into Canada, especially Amherstburg. The system involved 3,000 white helpers and freed an estimated 75,000 people after the civil war. Slavery in the middle of the 1800's was abolished except for the rebellion states in the south. In 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation was issued which made slavery illegal in the states that had rebelled and allowed black slaves to serve in the army and get other jobs, or continue to work on the plantations, as employees making money. The nightmare of slavery was over but a new one was to begin. One that was worse for it was prevalent but was secret and silent. One that exists today. One that does not shrink but rather grows. Racism was and is upon us.
